Visakha Government Degree College for Women is located in Visakhapatnam city in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Visakha Government Degree College for Women came into existence in the year 1975 by the Visakha Women’s College Society.

A college exclusively for women in this city became a reality in the year 1975 due to the constructive, relentless and conscious efforts of freedom fighter and a philanthropist.Understanding the need for an educational institution exclusively for women in one of the major cities of Andhra Pradesh, he left no stone unturned to fulfill the dreams of many girl students to get empowered through quality education.

Our college caters to the urban as well as rural population in Visakhapatam district. The faculty of the college regularly upgrade themselves academically by participating as well as organizing faculty developmental programmes,workshops and training programs.

The college has always been forefront in adapting new technologies for a more effective teaching learning experience .The college has been regularly taking measures to upgrade infrastructural facilities to meet the requirements of its increasing strength.

The CPDC committee works for effective community participation and puts in best efforts to mobilize public contributions for college development.It relentlessly strives to create the right climate for academic, cultural, social activities for the benefit of the students. Many activities for the welfare of the communities living in the neighbouring slums are undertaken by N.S.S units of our institution. Cooperation and Coordination are the basic requisites for efficient administration andacademic excellence. There is a perfect coordination between the Principal, staff and students, with all the committees interacting with each other for organizing programmes and solving problems.TheCPDC committee, the IQAC committee, the staff council with the principal as the chair person of allcommittees work together with complete coordination.

The college always tries to introduce new and innovative courses to make students employment ready. Emphasis is laid on students all round development so that they evolve into confident citizens of our country.Soft skills like public speaking, interview techniques, communication and language skills are taught to the students as per the evolving expectations in the job market.
